I think that artists’s function (and the art they create) is to investigate the times in which they live, welcoming and collecting testimonies of their time, transforming them into balanced and harmonious messages that can be received and processed by the viewer.
These messages will become a meeting point between the viewer, who will experience the beauty, and the artist, whose task is to elaborate and shape the experience to connect with an I different from his own, being able to continue the experimentation of life in a perpetual dance.
The embroidered statement is born after a collection of sentences on what is beautiful, a research designed to create a participatory statement from people who I meet. The declaration, born in July 2017 with 70 judgments, is open to enlargement in the months and years to come.
With this creation I was inspired by Botticelli's "Primavera", a work whose beauty is recognized democratically by the public.
I wanted to create a dress that does not reveal the shapes of the wearer, but that is sinuous and luminous, that moves with the breeze like a caress.
The embroidery I created by hand declares "Beauty is in the experience of the beholder”.
Hidden by the initials, there are also sentences of authors defined as 'famous' so that the reader's mind is not influenced by common judgment, but is free from any pre-judgment.
